Strict and robust quality controls include monitoring random samples every thirty minutes to ensure consistent results – presenting the ability to re-engineer a wide range of compressor types. In a typical year the Grapevine plant can build three quarters of a million units. This location is also home to our 50,000 sq ft core warehouse that can store up to half a million compressors to meet market demands.
Our Maxair division designs and manufactures numerous automotive HVAC components including multi-flow condensers, plate fin evaporators, and serpentine evaporators for the OEM and OE Service channels. Maxair also manufactures and distributes washer pumps, window lift motors, window regulators, window switches, and door lock actuators.
Maxair operates with TS16949 compliance as a base requirement for all market segments ensuring that processes are documented, measured, and precisely followed. Maxair utilizes extensive interactive plant metrics for continual evaluation and constant improvement – with a firm commitment to improved quality, reduced cost and on-time delivery. Capabilities include design-to-customer parameters that utilize new and existing tooling, equipment and processes.
At our Grapevine facility Four Seasons, Maxair and ACi are committed to recycling all unused scrap parts so that the metals may be given a new life somewhere else. SMP Grapevine is environmentally conscious and committed to efficient and green manufacturing processes. The plant employs an innovative core cleaning process that exclusively uses water that is clarified, filtered and treated on premises with zero discharge to the environment. This allows us to avoid using mineral spirits and other harmful cleansers or chemicals. All manufacturing oils are captured and recycled for use and only water-soluble paint is used. All compressors are packed in boxes made from recycled materials and shipped in containers that are also recycled–in fact “remanufacturing” products like our compressor line is itself a green process.
As a result of these and other initiatives Four Seasons now holds the ISO 14001:2004 certification of environmental management. Standard Motor Products understands the need to minimize our impact on the environment and reduce waste for future generations.
